About the Ukrainian Science Club

Non-governmental Organization “Ukrainian Science Club”

The Ukrainian Science Club is a non-governmental organization which was founded in 2007 in Kyiv, Ukraine. It has been actively functioning since March of 2008.

USC’s goal is to unite Ukrainian scientists for the purposes of helping to reorganize the science infrastructure in Ukraine in such a way as to enable Ukraine to pursue world class basic research, and so that procecces, financing, and regulations within the scientific domain can function effectively, taking example from the world’s best science communities and practices.

USC has started by inviting the best Ukrainian scientists based on an objective evaluation of their competencies and high moral standards. This will help to create a respected and influential organization, which will have the capacity to independently audit, develop strategies for reorganizing science and education in Ukraine, and advocate the interests of science by lobbying the government.

Priorities of the club are such:

Organizing and holding seminars, conferences, round tables and other events involving scientists and relevant governmental agencies
Independent examination of the bills and legislation related to science and education
Participation in community councils held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
Developing analytic reports about the current situation related to science in Ukraine
Popularizing scientific discoveries made by both Ukrainian scientists and the world’s scientific community through collaboration with science socities and the media

USC publishes information for its members and the scientific community at large on their bilingual web site, nauka.in.ua.

Academician Oleg Krishtal is the President of the Ukrainian Science Club. Dr. Nataliya Shulga is the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for all club activities.
